1st day:
|
|
Arriving in Budapest. From airport we will travel to Sopron. to our home for two nights in a beautiful hotel. After the check-in in the evening we will have a welcome dinner.
|
|
2nd day:
|
 |
This morning we will look around in Sopron. The town is rich in cultural historic and historic relics with a lot of interest. It is situated between Lake Fertőd and the Sopron mountain. Grape growing in the Sopron wine region is based on a tradition stretching back many hundreds of years. it is a tradition which has very much depended on the wealth of this particular area. Although it was probably true that the Romans grew grapes here, the real origins of the present grape and wine culture go back to the Middle Ages. By the 17th and 18th centuries Sopron had grow into one of the most important commercial wine centers in Europe. Such traditions appear to have overcome a sub-Alpine climate whose relatively cool summers and high rainfall isn’t usually associated with a red wine region. Characteristic grape and wine types are: Kékfrankos, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Zweigelt, Tramini. We will take part after our city tour in a cellar visit. We spend this night in Sopron.

3rd day:
|
|
Today we start with a wine yard visit and will have a chance for wine tasting in the wine region of Sopron. We will continue our program along the wine road towards the Lake Balaton and we will travel to Somló. Somló is the smallest but one of the most famous wine regions is located around an extinct volcano.

„Juhfark” the sheep tail wine is unique to Somló district. Somló wines made from characteristic grape types: Furmint, Rizling, Ezerjó, Leányka are often called as the wine of wedding nights. Vinum somlainum omni sanum (Somló wine cure all). Travelling to Sümeg, where we will stay for this night. After visiting the city and the castle in the evening we will enjoy a gastronomy program with wine-tasting in a romantic wine cellar.

4 th day:
|
|
Traveling to Keszthely situated at Lake Balaton, in the center of the Balaton - Highlands region of aromatic wines. We will have spend there two nights. You can find here Georgikon, the oldest agricultural school of higher education on Europe.

There is still prominent scientific research carried out at agricultural University famous grape varieties, like Cserszegi Fűszeres were bred here. After the sightseeing tour in Keszthely a half-day free program give possibility for shopping or bathing in the Balaton or make an excursion to Héviz.
|
|
Afternoon we will visit one of the characteristic cellars of "Da Bibere wine route" and taste the region famous wines, like Welsch Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Cserszegi Fűszeres have a long-lasting, discreet scent with a typical character.

5th day:
|
|
Traveling towards Tapolca. The city is situated at the legs of St. Georg Hill and in the center of the world famous group of volcanic hills in the Tapolca Basin. On our sightseeing tour here you can admire the Water-mill Lake and take a boat tour in a natural cave under the city.

Leaving Tapolca our first station in Badacsony wine region is St. Georg hill. Visiting the St. Georg Wine House. The next stop is Szigliget, where we will visiting the ruins of castle. It was originally surrounded by water and made a good defensive position.
 |
Finally we will arrive in Badacsony, the center of historical Hungarian wine region. The Badacsony Wine Region is set in some enchanting landscape. It is white grapes for the most part, which grow on the slopes of Badacsony, St.George’s Hill, Csobánc, Gulács and Szigliget.

There is also a museum in the baroque Róza Szegedy House once inhabited by Hungarian poet Sándor Kisfaludy and his wife, complete with its original furniture, personal belongings, and grape-picking equipment. Kisfaludy House, which lies a little further up the Badacsony, was once a small winepress building belonging to the poet and is now a restaurant. After lunch we can take a closer look the vineyards and cellars and taste the famous wine, the Badacsonyi Olaszrizling, Szilváni, Kéknyelű and Szürkebarát.

6th day:
|
|
This day we start in Káli basin, the most characteristic part of the Balaton Uplands. The many church towers of the seven villages, the wine cellars and the signs of a variety of agricultural work, vineyards, meadows and ploughlands, constitute a special landscape in the Káli Basin. Vine varieties, wines: Szürkebarát, Italian Riesling, Chardonnay - full-bodied, rich in bouquet, lively acidic wines with fine fragrance.

In times of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy this area delivered the white wine for the Royal Court in Vienna. We will visit one of the traditional wine cellars in the Kál basin offering wine-tasting.

Then we travel to Balatonfüred, where we will visit some famous cellars in Balatonfüred region. On the sunny slopes of the Balatonfüred-Csopak Wine Region
|
|
the vineyards bordering the lake also produce white wines, like for example Italian Rizling , Tramini and Muscat Ottonel. This will be an evening we will long remember. This evening we have a cellar party with typical Hungarian foods, music and songs, and local wine. Our accommodation will be in Balatonfüred.

7th day:
|
|
|
|
We embark on a sightseeing excursion and ship to Tihany Peninsula, crowned by the old Abbey from 11. Century. Red wine is produced on the Tihany Peninsula which is regarded as an independent wine region in its own right (despite the fact that Cabernet Franc, Merlot , Pinot Noir are also grow in the Balatonfüred-Csopak Wine Region).

There is a guided tour of the area and visit to historical benedict abbey church. We will not forget to visit a cellar too and get acquainted with excellent products within. We will enjoy our lunch in the Halászcsárda. Late afternoon we will return to Budapest and stay overnight in our Hotel.

8th day:
|
|
We transfer to the airport at time, which is convenient to board your scheduled flight home. We say goodbye to our new friends and travel home with fond memories of our SPECIAL TOURS.

City tour with guide, Visit the Castle District: Matthias Church and Fisherman
Bastion, splendid view from the Gellert Hill, visit on the Pest side, Heroes
Square with the Millenary monuments, the famous Public buildings and the
Parliament. We will make a short walk in the City Park and Vajdahunyad Castle,
which represents the architectural styles of the 19th century. We have our lunch
in the famous Gundel restaurant. Afternoon we will visit to Budapest Wine
Museum, where guests can taste and buy traditional Hungarian wines. Dinner and
overnight in Budapest.
