Description
|
Villány – Siklós Wine Road is 30 km long and covers 8 villages. The Romans finds uncovered at the base of the hills prove that people have been growing grapes and making wine here for a very long time. Today the Villány –Siklós wine region covers an area of about 2.000 hectares. The red wines for which the Villány and the Villánykövesd vineyards are famous the Kékoportó, Kékfrankos, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and the Merlot. As for the white wines you should go to Siklós for the Italian Riesling, Hárslevelü, Chardonnay, Tramini and the Rhenish Riesling.

In Villány, the village after which wine region is named , you will find a Wine Museum, situated amongst the historic wine cellars. We invite You to take a walk here, on the mild slopes of the southernmost wine region of Hungary. In the cellars You can meet our viticulturists and have home-made food and splendid wines! Pay a visit to our rows of cellars known as valuable monuments!

Itinerary

1st day:
|
|
 |
Departure from Budapest. Transfer by air-conditioned bus to the city Szekszárd, famous for its red wines. Professional program: study the winegrowing techniques of the region. Wine tasting with snacks. Transfer to Harkány. Lunch and overnight in the hotel, your home for four nights.

2nd day:

Visit the exhibition Wine Museum in Villány, where the guests are informed about the history of wine-production, the use of ancient tools and viticulturist traditions. A cold-plate dinner with wine tasting in a pleasant cellar of Villány. Overnight at Harkány.

3rd day:
|
|
Travel along the fishing lakes from the hotel to Palkonya.
|
|

|
A visit to the monument cellar village of Palkonya preserving the memories of folk architecture and the Roman Catholic round church, then return to Villány- kövesd. Dinner in a Villány- kövesd restaurant.

“Walking the cellars of Villánykövesd” – a tasting of a total of 10 different wines at 3-4 viticulturists. Overnight at Harkány.

4 th day:
|
|
Transfer to Nagyharsány. In Nagyharsány a walk to the sculpture park created in the eastern quarry of the Szársomlyó-hill, where an open-air exhibition features the works of Hungarian and international sculptors.

Lunch in Siklós, this town in Hungary has one of the most complete castles in Hungary. During the Turks used the fortified castle as a fortress. Visit the fortress and another monuments of historical city: Mosque of Malkoch Bey, Serb Church. Cellar walking with wine tasting in the hillside of Siklós. Overnight at Harkány.

5th day:

After breakfast, bathing in the Pleasure and Medicinal Spa of Harkány (sauna, Jacuzzi, massage, medicinal water). After lunch travel to Pécs, the town of Mediterranean atmosphere, lies in Mecsek Mountains. Get acquainted with the city on our sightseeing program. Overnight at Pécs.

6th day:
|
|
After breakfast we follow the visit of the numerous attraction of city, like the Roman age tombs, ancient Christian sepulcher, Turkish mosques, minaret, Zsolnay ceramics, exhibitions and museums. After lunch travel back to Budapest. Overnight at Budapest.

After breakfast transfer to the airport depending on departure.
