Sümeg is a small city located in the
Southwestern part of the Bakony
Mountains, 30 km from Lake Balaton, 180 km from Budapest. Its main attraction is the
monumental castle built in the XIII century, and located in the hill of the
city. Visitors from all over the world arrive to this part of the region to
climb the fortress, and at the same time to visit the Asunción's Church of
baroque style also called "the Chapel Sixtina of the Rococó".
The castle of Sümeg has been
completely rebuilt in the last thirteen years. At the foot of the castle hill
offering a wide range of special programmes a Knights’ Chamber, a Castle Inn, a
Stable, a Museum of weapons and couches and a Knights’ Arena have been built on
the castle estate which perfectly fits the mood of the castle.

bathing resort but also a cultural center of the Lake. Visit the wonderful Festetics Palace. The
baroque palace is open for public, visitors can admire here the reach
collection of local-history museum. Sightseeing in Keszthely. Launch in good
restaurant. Afternoon trip to the Héviz Spa, and bathing in the Thermal Lake. Héviz is a world famous spa resort near the Lake Balaton. The 36°C water is rushing up
from 39 meters deep and is excellent for handling rheumatic diseases. Late afternoon
transfer back to Sümeg.

B. Tapolca - Szigliget - Badacsony

Transfer to Tapolca, the city is situated at the legs of St. Georg Hill and in the center of the world famous group of volcanic hills in the Tapolca Basin. On our sightseeing tour here you can admire the Water-mill Lake and make a short, but exciting boating trip in the narrow routes of cave. Follow towards Szigliget, the nice village at Lake Balaton. Visit the ruins of fortress on the top of Castle Hill (242 m) in Szigliget. Look around the charming village with romantic peasant houses, narrow streets winding on the hillside. You can stop
for a swim at Szigliget strand in summer season. Launch in a good restaurant of
village. Finally we will arrive in Badacsony, the
center of historical Hungarian wine region.

The Badacsony Wine Region is set in
some enchanting landscape. It is white grapes for the most part, which grow on
the slopes of Badacsony, St.George’s Hill, Csobánc, Gulács and Szigliget.
There is a museum in the baroque Róza Szegedy House once inhabited by Hungarian
poet Sándor Kisfaludy and his wife, complete with its original furniture,
personal belongings, and grape-picking equipment. Kisfaludy House, which lies a
little further up the Badacsony, was once a small winepress building belonging
to the poet and is now a restaurant. From there you can climb up to the top of
hill between the basalt cliffs and enjoy the panoramic view of Lake Balaton. Late afternoon transfer back
to Sümeg.

The art of porcelain in Herend is famous all over the world. After a guided tour
through porcelain manufactory (founded 1826), cafee at the Porcelainum,
shopping opportunity. Lunch in the Aspicius restaurant. The next stop is the
thousand-year-old royal town Veszprém, built on seven hills. Veszprém often
called as the "city of queens", because the bishop of Veszprém was
granted the right of crowning the queens of Hungary. The castle district of Veszprém , with its
museums and galleries offers you an unforgettable programme.

interesting sights of Hungary's
second biggest historic castle-unit still in use: the gateway to Castle, Fire Lookout Tower, Gizella
Chapel, Holy Trinity Square ,
St Michael's Cathedral, the statue of St Stephen the King and Quenn Gisella. Afterwards we drive to Tihany Peninsula, at Lake Balaton,
the famous nature reserve, visit of the abbey, founded 1051. From here you can
enjoy the beautiful view of the Balaton. Lake Balaton and its surroundings is the most beautiful region of Hungary. Balaton – often called as the
"Hungarian sea" – is the biggest lake in Central
Europe; its water is velvety smooth and tepid, warming
up quickly in summer to reach a temperature of 20-26 °C. Drive to the oldest Spa, Balatonfüred and
walk on the promenade. Late afternoon transfer back to Sümeg.
