1st day: Arrival
Transfer from Budapest Airport to Visegrád. Accommodation in Visegrád.
2nd day: Pilis Circuit Tour (17 km)
Transfer to Dömös. Today you will walk through steep slopes and will big rocks,like Prédikálószék (Preacher-chair) and Rám precipice (romantic, adventurous but challenging 1 km long part). You will climb up to Dobogókő, the walking center of Pilis Hill. Picnic in Dobogókő. During the tour you will enjoy the excellent views of the Danube, the mountains and the surrounding villages. Transfer back from Dömös to your hotel at Visegrád.
3rd day: Sightseeing walks in the royal towns of Danube Bend
Visit Esztergom, where the first Hungarian King, St. Stephen was crowned in 1000 AD. The Basilika of Esztergom is Hungary's largest church, where Franz Liszt conducted his famous Esztergom Mass. We can admire here the Bakócz chapel, the masterwork of the Hungarian Renaissance. The panorama terrace offers a great view of city. Return back to Visegrád, and visit the remains of the Water Bastion, Solomon's Tower , Upper Castle and the ruins of King Matthias Palace. Walking up to Nagyvillám lookout, you can try the nearby summer bob-sleigh on Mogyoró Hill. Accommodation in Visegrád.
4th day: Börzsöny summit tour (22 km)
Cross the Danube and transfer to Királyrét. The fascinating Börzsöny is a range of hills, where the wanderer will find dormant volcanic peaks, deep chasms, and sudden cliff faces. The woods of hills were important hunting areas for consecutive royal families. Hiking up Mount Csóványos, the highest peak in the Börzsöny, you will walk in beautiful surroundings far away from city noise. Enjoy your picnic lunch on the top. Transfer to Budapest. 5th day: Discover Budapest
Sightseeing in Budapest. Visit Heroes square with the Millenarian monument, Andrássy Street, Basilica, the Parliament building from outside, Gellért Hill, the Castle District with Matthias Church and Fishermen's Bastion.
In the afternoon relax in a famous thermal bath of the city. Accommodation in Budapest.
6th day: Discover Budapest
A half day trip in the Hills of Buda. Visit the Pálvölgyi cave, with beautiful stalagmite formations. Travel to the top of Széchényi-Hill then walk up to János Hill (Jánoshegy, the highest point of Budapest: 529m) and enjoy the splendid view of city from the look tower of Erzsébet Kilátó. Dinner in a famous restaurant. Accommodation in Budapest.
7th day: Walking along the ridge of the Mátra (23 km)
Transfer to Mátra Hills. Follow the National Blue Trail from Sirok village (with the ruins of a medieval castle ) and walk along the ridge of the Mátra and climb up Kékestető. Picnic lunch on the way. Kékestető is the highest point in the country with an elevation of 1014 meters and has an excellent clear air. There is a TV-tower on the top of hill, from you can see a unique panorama. Kékestető is one of the most favorite mountain holiday resort of Hungary. Transfer to Eger. Accommodation in Eger.
8th day: Bükk Plateau summit tour (23 km)
Transfer by bus to Szilvásvárad. You will climb up to the rocky summit of Bükk Plateau at height of 900 meters and enjoy the splendid view from the stones over the southern Bükk Hills with a packed lunch on the walk. Transfer to Miskolctapolca and visit the cave bath. After soaking in the thermal water dinner in a local restaurant. Transfer back to Eger. Accommodation in Eger.
9th day: Baradla Cave Tour
Transfer to Jósvafő and make a 2 hours cave tour. The Baradla Cave is a World Heritage site. There are rocks caverns with stalactites of astonishing size, a veritable story-book world. After visiting the cave transfer back to Eger. Afternoon walking in Eger downtown (Castle, Dobó tér, Turkish minaret, Basilica). Wine tasting and dinner in a local wine cellar. Accommodation in Eger.
10th day: Departure
Transfer to Budapest Airport and departure.
