The participants may discover the caves of Hungarian capital Budapest and the 25 km long Baradla cave in the Aggtelek National Park , which is the number one well known cave in central Europe and rightly famous worldwide. The morphological diversity, richness of formations, characteristic fauna, as well as archaeological and historical value, make this cave system one of the most complex underground karstic phenomena in the world. The Aggtelek National Park has been a World Heritage site since 1995. Budapest, including the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy Avenue has been a World Heritage site since 1987. According to the justification of the World Heritage Committee, "the site, with the remains of monuments such as the Roman city of Aquincum and the Gothic castle of Buda, which have exercised considerable architectural influence over various periods, is one of the world's outstanding urban landscapes and illustrates the great periods in the history of the Hungarian capital".

1st day: Budapest
|
|
Arrival in Budapest, followed by a sightseeing tour , then visit the Castle Hill Cave, a semi artificial labyrinth system, more than 10 km long under the castle district in limnetic limestone . Dinner, accommodation

2th day: Budapest
|
 |
In the morning visit the 2 km long Szemlő Hill Cave, rich in peastone and gypsum formations, in the afternoon the cca. 10 km long Pál Valley dripstone Cave. Both caves are that of hydrothermal origin and they are accessible representatives of the several protected caves of Buda. Dinner , accommodation in Budapest.

3rd day: Jósvafő
|
|
After breakfast travel on to Aggtelek National Park, called Karstland. There are 262 caves in the National Park, 20 of which are protected. One of Europe’s largest stalactite caves, the Baradla Cave in Aggtelek, is a World Heritage site and, according to scientists, one of the world’s most wonderful geographic phenomena. , first mentioned in a document dated 1594.

There are rocks caverns with stalactites of astonishing size, a veritable story-book world. Conducted tours set out from three entrances. Taking a 2 hours walk paved pathways in the Jósvafő part of the Baradla Cave, visiting the Giants’Hall and a short tour in the Domica Branch of the Baradla, on the territory of Slovakia. 4th day: Jósvafő

|
Transfer to Aggtelek to the other end of the main passage of the cave system. From Aggtelek to Jósvafő there are long distance special tour with torches along the underground passages. ( 5 hours tour ) Dinner and accommodation in Jósvafő.

|
Walking tour from Jósvafő. Leaving the caves for the country- side, walking amongst the heavily scented meadows, you can enjoy the wild flowers below you and rare birds flying overhead on the lookout for food. 6th day: Lillafüred
|
|
Travel to Miskolctapolca. Visit to Europe’s only thermal Cave Bath . The thermal and cave bath is a natural formation unique in Europe. The water rich in minerals, and the crystalline air of the cave have a healing effect on heart and vascular, rheumatic and respiratory disorders. Bathing here is a special experience, thanks to the special light effects, the underground stream and the bubble bath.

Follow to Lillafüred, situated on the shore of Lake Hámori, surrounded by mountains , which is the one of the most spectacular holiday resorts in the country. Two caves offer a special experience to lovers of the natural environment : the Anna cave with its unrivalled calcium tufa formations, and St. Stephen Cave with its ornamental stalactites and healing air. 7th day: Budapest
|
|
Traveling back to Budapest we will stop at Szilvásvárad, where we will take a light railway on the most popular excursion route of the Bükk National Park, the 5 km long, wonderful Szalajka Valley. You can see the water of the Szalajka Stream vaporised in spray as it flows down the 17 metre high steps of the Fátyol Waterfall. Travel to Budapest. Farewell dinner and accommodation in Budapest.
