This tour enables you to get acquainted with the interesting land of North-Western Balaton region, the Káli Basin situated in the Balaton Uplands National Park and the home of famous Balaton wines ( "kéknyelű", "szürkebarát" and "cserszegi füszeres") : the sunlit slopes of Badacsony, Szent Georg Hill, Keszthely Hill.

The nice town Tapolca, your home during the tour, situated in the centre of this area surrounded by extinct volcanic mountains, serves as an excellent starting point for the trips. Worth to visit its pond cave and try the short, but exciting boating trip in the narrow routes . The Festetics Castle in Keszthely and ruins of medieval castles of Sümeg and Szigliget are another popular attractions of the area.

Numerous beaches are available along the shore for bathing in the cool water of Lake Balaton.

1st day: Arrival at Tapolca

2nd day: Tapolca - Keszthely - Tapolca (58 km)
|
|
Biking to Keszthely through the Keszthely Hills from Tapolca. Keszthely is not only a bathing resort but also a cultural center of the Lake Balaton.

Here you can find the wonderful Festetics Palace. The baroque palace is open for public, visitors can admire here the reach collection of local-history museum. Sightseeing in Keszthely. Back to Tapolca you will ride on the shore of Lake Balaton. On the road you can enjoy one of the most beautiful view of Hungary , visit the ruin of old fortress and swim in the lake.

3rd day: Tapolca - Sümeg - Tapolca (62 km)
|
|
From Tapolca first you will cycling up the Keszthely Hills. Then on the road to Sümeg you will ride between hills hide the ruins of two old castle and discover a Buddhist Stupa.
|
|
Slopes and rises diversify the route as it leads through romantic villages of the Balaton-Highlands. In Sümeg you can visit the castle, admire the baroque facade of Episcopal Palace , the baroque buildings and parish church, with the frescoes of Maulbertsch. On the road back Tapolca you will ride through quiet land with small villages in picturesque rural environment.

4th day: Tapolca - Kali Basin - Révfülöp - Badacsony - Tapolca (52 km)

This day you will cycling around volcanic hills, and explore the amazing Kali Basin then enjoy the water of Lake Balaton and taste the famous wine of Badacsony, while you admire the spectacular panorama.
