Itinerary

1st day: Arrival
|
|
Getting acquainted with Keszthely
|
|
|
2nd day: Keszthely - Fonyód - Badacsony - Keszthely (70 km)
|
|
You will ride on the southern shore of Lake Balaton through Balatonmária to Fónyód. Here you will cross the lake by ship and arrive to Badacsony. You will cycle back to Keszthely on the Northern shore through Szigliget and Balatongyörök. On the road you can taste the famous wines of Badacsony , walk up the ruin of the a fortress in Szigliget hill and enjoy the beautiful views around the lake.

3rd day: Keszthely - Sümeg - Keszthely (70 km)
|
|
On the road to Sümeg near Zalaszántó you will ride between Rezi and Tátika Hills hide the ruins of two old castle and Kovácsi Hill, where you can discover a Buddhist Stupa. Slopes and rises diversify the route as it leads through romantic villages of area. In Sümeg you can visit the castle, watching historical tilts, admire the baroque facade of Episcopal Palace , the baroque buildings and parish church, with the frescoes of Maulbertsch. Back to Keszhely you will ride through quiet land with small villages in picturesque rural environment.

4th day: Kis-Balaton tour (70 km)
|
|
Kis-Balaton is part of Balaton Uplands National Park.
|
|
The wetland area (Little Balaton) with the reed beds is a paradise for birds. Cycling to Kápolnapuszta you can find the Buffalo Reserve demonstration site. Visit Kányavár Island, with nature trail and lookout tower. Finally in Zalavár you can observe the ruins and memorials of ancient history. Back to Keszthely.

How To Get There

|
Keszthely is situated 200 km ( 3 hours) from Budapest Airport and 15 km from Balaton Airport (Sármellék).
|
|
By Plain:
Travel to Budapest.
By Bus:
Take a taxi from Budapest Ferihegy Airport to Budapest, Népliget Bus Station. (€ 10 / person for two person sharing the taxi).Follow by one of the available direct buses to Keszhely (One way bus ticket is around € 10 / person).

By Train:
Take a taxi from Budapest Ferihegy Airport to Budapest Déli or Budapest-Keleti Railway station depending on your selected train. ( € 10 / person for two person sharing the taxi). Follow by one of the available direct trains to Keszhely:
Take a taxi from Keszthely station to Hotel ( €4).
The
